The Abundant Creative Manifesto™

Dear creative person, sitting in the back of the church,

Yes, I’m talking to you.

It’s true. We’ve been given a bad rap, especially those of us following Jesus.

We’ve been deemed: Unresponsive, immature, too emotional, lazy, broke–and rightfully so.

We’ve messed up, missed out, and mostly failed to steward the invisible power we were given at birth to envelope the world with a glimpse of heaven.

We’ve traded our inheritance for a momentary meal, a safer existence where certainty and steady paychecks are more important than riding the wave of creativity we now long for on nights and weekends.

Called to Go but also called to stay. We are called to create but we’ve been given no place inside the walls of the church box to spread our wings and fill this canvas called earth with beauty.

So we’ve settled. We have laid down our weapons and retreated to the hills of Ephraim. We’ve joined the ranks of the Philistines hoping that someone among them will see our worth and free us to express the glory that exists inside of us.

YOU DO NOT belong there. Come out from among them, creative one. You have been marked to make!

Through the chaos and noise of the culture we can still hear His voice calling you back to who you are – born to follow Him. Born to make Him known. Born to create. We are designers, developers, writers, photographers, marketers, musicians, and more.

We’re artisans of awe and wonder. We’re followers of Jesus, called to build our pulpits out of pixels and preach our sermons through sounds borrowed from Heavens courts..

We refuse to settle for a vocation that leaves us longing for a vacation. We’re choosing to live for Him. We’re laying our poverty mindset at His feet and choosing to step into who He’s called us to be.

We were built to build— to make, to paint, photograph, design, and capture the beauty around us in such a way that it makes the world stop and ask, “why are you so different?”

It's because we see the world differently. We see the world in fonts, typefaces, lenses, filters – we see it frame by frame and post by post. We hear it through the choruses we sing and the notes we hit while straining and aiming our vocal chords to reach the throne.

We see a new kind of world where peace reigns and love lifts people out of bondage. We’re writing that world into existence through the tip of our pens, and the keys on our keyboard.

We’re fighters–warriors battling to make our unseen kingdom visible through our sketchbooks and laptop screens. We were born with weapons that disarm, alarm, wake up, call sons and daughters back home, and restore beauty to the earth.

We were built to break through, whether it’s in boardrooms with executives, meetings with motivators, or in the dirt with the poor and the destitute. You have been sent so that you might SHINE!

We’re not just creative people in the back of the church–nomads, and weirdos with no place to lay our heads…watching from the sidelines as the anointed ones preach and teach. We’re more than that. We’re strategic thinkers, business builders, emotion shapers, and visionaries. We draw from a well that never gets empty. We are rebuilders of walls and cities. We’re laborers with a longing that can’t be satisfied by titles and promotions. We are kingdom creatives.

Jesus is our treasure.

Excellence is our aim.

Abundance is our inheritance.

For Glory & Beauty,

The Abundant Creatives
